“The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes” Marcel Proust

Hello, welcome to our blog!

Who are we ?

We are Lorena and Anna, two hardened explorers, partner in life and adventures since 2019, the year we met and never left.

OPPOSITE BUT COMPLEMENTARY, one reflective and creative, the other pragmatic and rational. At first we had nothing in common, then we became like the egg and the truffle: a perfect match!

A few years ago we found an old Vespa and it was love at first sight for both of us. After restoring it to new (or almost) condition, we have not been parted from it and it became our favourite travelling companion.

The passion for travelling on two wheels and the desire to explore, share and enhance our territory have given birth to this blog!

about us esplorando controvento
Lorena Esplorando Controvento Chi siamo

Lorena, class of ’88, Tuscan and Florentine docg, but with proud Apulian origins. Author of this blog, travel blogger and content creator.

I have always been fascinated by discovering new places and cultures, so much so that I chose tourism for my school and university education.

All the childhood holidays spent in Salento, by the sea, made the sea my element, my magic place.

My Tuscan-Apulian soul and the two years I spent in London opened my mind, allowing me to grasp the beauty in diversity, in the uniqueness of places, as well as in people, without prejudice.

When I’m not riding my Vespa (or bothering Anna), I spend my time reading about travel, psychology, marketing, but mostly writing and sharing stories, itineraries, experiences.

I have a weakness for roasted chestnuts, the Salento pizzica and music in all its sounds. Favourite character? Margherita Hack!

I am the team’s instinctive and creative soul.

Anna Esplorando Controvento Chi Siamo

Anna, born in Latina, class of ’92, environmental engineer.  “Adopted” by Tuscany (for work), resident in Florence for reasons of the heart.

From an early age she travelled the world with her family and her curiosity to discover new places never left her.

She loves truffled carbonara, pistachio, sandwiches stuffed with sauces and since living in Florence also the “schiacciata”(Tuscan flatbread).

In addition to food, not long ago she developed a passion for plants and seems to have sprouted a little green thumb. Consequence: she has filled the house with very pretty little green creatures.

She likes board games, riddles and head-scratchers, skating and especially riding our Vespa. She enjoys making videos of our adventures and teasing me.

She is the team’s practical and efficient soul.

Esplorando Controvento was the result of the great love we have for travel meant as an opportunity to discover the true essence of places as well as oneself and from the desire to contribute to the enhancement of the Italian territory with a special space dedicated to Tuscany.
